This new song “Bang Bang Bang” by “Slab” gives off some pretty great vibes from the very beginning. The lines surrounding the key moment of Bang Bang Bang” work well to create a hook that melodically makes its way into your long term memory fairly quickly. Slab is a walking lyrical music jukebox and he is a brilliant musician with a great vibe with his awesome music.

The music is stylish, there’s a sense of peace and fun about it, yet on the whole the sound is quite striking. It creates a funny and happy ambiance that quickly sets an easy going vibe with “Bang Bang Bang” for listeners to revel in, but there’s nothing overly mellow or laid back about the performances involved – there’s an increasing level of passion in the sound of the voices, and this expresses the lyrics and ideas in a way that builds in intensity alongside the soothing overtones of the instrumentation.

Probably the most addictive thing about this track is, as mentioned, that hook – it’s not simply the words and the melody, it’s the rhythm of the line, the variation in what follows, and of course, the verse supporting it – these alternate sections offer a pleasantly mellow and calming contrast, which is hugely effective. The lyrics have hope, as does the music itself, and the artist’s voice is just about perfect for this kind of expression.

The great thing is that while the song does maintain the basic elements of hip-hop and r&b, so as to pull in the right kind of audience in the beginning, it also offers up something more intense; faster, creatively independent, with a huge collection of lyrics and an unquestionable amount of character embedded in the performance. The music is so beautiful that at first it’s not really the lyrics that are picked up on from the performance, the vocal flow is so fast that many of these fly by in a little bit of a haze, but the beauty of the music means that this isn’t a negative at all – you’re highly likely to listen again.

It’s a great song, really well written and superbly performed and polished. It’s a hip hop bit of pop music, essentially, but it’s fresh, it’s been flawlessly mixed and produced, and it’s something that fits easily and noticeably within any number of categories throughout the mainstream right now. There’s also a gentle nature to the voice in some ways, which adds to the appeal – the performance is confident and stylish, but it’s a quiet confidence, and an effortless style, and this makes it even more interesting.
